Mad Bliss - Heaven Through Old Eyes "Mad Bliss" is a well known name for those who follow the evolving Alt. Rock scene in Israel.

The Shampoo Queen was probably the most outrageous and provocative show ever played on a national theatre in Israel. Hanoch Levin, a young playwright, wrote in 1970 a play that dealt in a very sarcastic and offensive way, with the results of the recent war (The Six Days War), trying to drag people's attention to the next one yet to come (The Yom-Kippur War). The songs from the play were recorded very quickly, since the play came off due to the public's demand, and was released in a limited editionf of 500 copies. The record became unavailable and is considered to be a highly desired collector's item, and also gained the status of an important historical document of the society and politics of the era.
After 36 years of absence, Earsay had re-issued this important document and now it is available for purchase once again. The cd contains a beautiful graphic design and liner notes. |

The Album, first issued on 1994, was written by Spigel (some of the texts by Sami Birenbach and Dalia Rabikovich), and composed by Spigel and Colin Newman (who also produced the album).
Rosh Balata reveals the quiet and shy side in Minimal Compact when the tender and catchy melodies are perfectly arranged with soft electronic touch, which brings the names Stereolab and New Order to mind. Beuatiful and clever art-pop album.

When we asked Miki to gig in our store, he seemed to like the option of an intimate show, just with a guitar, the best.
In front of lovers, friends, and other people who happened to be there, Miki sang his soulful songs, as beautiful as life itself. Blue chords with green grass and red lights mixed together to a sort of a poetic jungle which took over the vibe in the store for an hour or so.

The beginning of the 90's in Israel was the golden age of Israeli rock'n'roll. Many bands were established and the general vibe was 'let's kick out the jam'.
Among the Hebrew-singing rock'n'roll bands, there was one band who decided to do it differently - to sing in English, and to go extreme - Plastic Venus. The chaos was extreme, the noise was extreme and the jams were sour. Ronit Bergman led the group and was the one holding the mic, the guitar and the pen.
After moving to Macedonia, and the break up of P.V, Ronit had established a new band - One Of Us.

Malka Spigel (known to the world as Minimal Compact bass player), and her husband Colin Newman (known as Wire's frontman), established Githead as a one time project, to celebrate their label "Swim" anniversary.
After writing some songs, and adding Max Franken (previously Minimal Compact) on drums and Robin Rimbaud (AKA Scanner) on guitars, the four has realized that there's more then just an occasional gathering of fine musicians, and decided to go for the whole deal.
"Profile", the band's debut album, is an mixture of 4 different musical worlds, ideas and visions, assembled together to create a contemporary dark new wave music, still strong on the poppy melodies, supported by a tremendous sonic landscape created by them.
The album is a MUST for any Minimal Compact/Wire fans, and will be warmly accepted by the generation to which the 80's is just a rumor.

It was originally released as a cassette only by Earsay, and later on as a CD by the German label SPM. This new reissue includes 4 bonus tracks recorded on the same sessions from '89. The music is very unique and contains influences by early Genesis, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, and other British prog acts of the times and also strains of advanced rock music from Israel (mainly from the 70's). The album was a complete "strange fruit" at the musical climate of Israel at the time of its release. But, over the years, has turned to be a collector's item among prog fans around the globe. |
